Stonebird Japanese Grill and Noodles has quietly slipped into a familiar Folsom storefront in Broadstone Marketplace, swapping a pure-ramen setup for open-flame skewers, fresh wall art and a grill-forward menu. The rebrand keeps the ramen regulars came for, while layering in yakitori and more shareable plates cooked over live fire. The change landed earlier this month and gives east Folsom a dedicated Japanese grill in a stretch long dominated by ramen and sushi shops.
Owner Xu Tinjoe opened Stonebird on May 15 in the same storefront at 2766 E. Bidwell St., Suite 300, after operating Rakkan Ramen there for more than two years, according to The Sacramento Bee. "Customers are excited for the grill because in this area (there’s) a lot of ramen and sushi restaurants," Tinjoe told the paper. Manager Max de la Garza added that the interior picked up new chairs and posters to match the revamped menu.
What to expect on the menu
The restaurant's delivery menu on Uber Eats lists cold and hot appetizers, a dedicated Yakitori section and ramen bowls that include miso, creamy and spicy options. On the platform, ramen items are shown around $20-$22 and appetizers roughly $5-$12, with many skewers grouped under an open-flame grill section. Uber Eats also separates pickup and delivery windows from in-person service, hinting that the kitchen is consciously juggling dine-in guests with online orders.
From Rakkan to Stonebird
Stonebird now occupies the same unit that previously operated as Rakkan Ramen, with owner Xu Tinjoe having run Rakkan in Folsom for more than two years before the pivot. RAKKAN Ramen's site lists the Folsom address at 2766 E. Bidwell, confirming the brand's prior presence in Broadstone Marketplace, while The Sacramento Bee describes the move as essentially a concept retool that keeps ramen bowls on the menu but leans harder into grill-focused plates.
Where to find it
Stonebird sits in Broadstone Marketplace, north of Highway 50 at the corner of East Bidwell and Broadstone Parkway. The restaurant is available for pickup and delivery through Uber Eats, which hosts the full menu and ordering options for the location. For now, the switch reads less like a new chain dropping in and more like a local owner reshuffling the playbook to fill a niche, and it may be one to watch as east Folsom's dining choices continue to shift.
