Clear your summer calendars, parents. Universal Kids Resort, Universal’s first theme park designed specifically for young children, is officially slated to open in Frisco next Monday. The on-site Universal Kids Resort Hotel will start welcoming overnight guests one day earlier, on June 30, and tickets, vacation packages, and the park’s first annual pass are already on sale.
What the park will include
According to Universal Destinations & Experiences, the 20-acre park will be carved up into seven kid-friendly lands: DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp; Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom; Jurassic World Adventure Camp; Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club; DreamWorks’ TrollsFest; DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar; and the Isle of Curiosity featuring Gabby’s Dollhouse.
The company says everything is being built at “kid-sized” scale, with a focus on interactive play zones, water features, sensory gardens, and plenty of character meet-and-greets. A brightly themed 300-room hotel at the park entrance will include family suites and dining spaces tailored to younger guests.
Tickets, passes and packages
The Dallas Morning News reports that Universal is rolling out one-day and two-day general admission tickets, along with a Silver Annual Pass that comes with blockout dates. There is also a customizable “Create Your Own” package that can include a specialty 1.5-day admission.
Families can tack on extras such as early entry to the park, resort-wide charging privileges, and other add-ons aimed at visitors planning a North Texas getaway around the new resort.
Where it sits and what it means for Frisco
First unveiled in 2023, the project sits near the Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway as part of the larger Fields mixed-use development. City leaders have framed it as a family-focused anchor that fits neatly into Frisco’s increasingly crowded entertainment lineup.
The City of Frisco notes that the resort plan includes public spaces and amenities designed with parents and young children in mind, with more details promised as opening day gets closer.
Designed for little guests with big imaginations
“This is a theme park built with kids in mind,” Sharon Parker, director of marketing and sales for Universal Kids Resort, told NBC 5. She said the park is geared mainly toward children ages 3 to 8, while still aiming to give the rest of the family something to do.
Parker added that Universal expects guests’ “inner child” to come out right alongside the youngest visitors once the park opens.
Universal Kids Resort is set to open next Monday, with the hotel beginning stays on June 30. Tickets, vacation packages, and pass options are available through the park’s official site at UniversalKidsResort.com.
