
Shoppers at a south Las Vegas grocery store were sent scrambling Tuesday when gunfire broke out inside a Smith's supermarket on South Maryland Parkway, leaving two people shot, according to police.
The shooting happened inside the store in the 9700 block of South Maryland Parkway. Officers quickly detained a suspect at the scene and moved to secure the building while detectives started collecting evidence. Police did not immediately release how badly the two people were hurt or provide updates on their conditions.
Police Investigation Underway
Officers and detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are handling the case, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Reporters Glenn Puit and Akiya Dillon note that a suspect was taken into custody at the store. Police have not released the names of the victims or offered any information about a possible motive.
