
Early-morning gunfire shattered the quiet on Industrial Drive in Matthews yesterday, when someone opened fire on a local tow company and then took off in a white car, according to police.
Matthews officers say the shots were fired toward the Williams Wrecker Service office on Industrial Drive near Monroe Road at about 1 a.m. Responding officers found shell casings scattered in the street, but there were no reported injuries. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene in a white vehicle.
WCCB Charlotte reports that officers located multiple shell casings on Industrial Drive and that the station published photos credited to the Matthews Police Department. The station also reports that no injuries were reported and that police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Williams Wrecker Service operates on Industrial Drive near Monroe Road, a commercial corridor just off I-485 in Matthews. Business listings place the company at 1039 Industrial Drive, according to MapQuest, while federal carrier records list 1031 Industrial Drive in the FMCSA's SAFER database. Both addresses point to the same block of Industrial Drive near Monroe Road.
