On Wednesday night in Everett’s Silver Lake neighborhood, a burst of gunfire turned a quiet sidewalk into a crime scene, leaving one man dead and residents looking for answers.
Deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office were called to reports of multiple shots around 9:20 p.m. near the corner of Silver Lake Road and 120th Street Southeast. They found a man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. By Thursday morning, no arrests had been announced and the victim’s identity had not been released as detectives kept the intersection taped off and processed evidence.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and as reported by FOX 13 Seattle, deputies also used drones and K-9 teams to search the surrounding area for any suspects following the shooting.
Search And Investigation
The sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit has taken over the case, and detectives were working the 1100 block of 120th Street Southeast, HeraldNet reported. That outlet noted that no suspects had been arrested and that investigators were canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and any available surveillance video.
What Authorities Are Asking
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the victim’s identity and manner of death, FOX 13 Seattle reported. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
Silver Lake is a largely residential neighborhood in southeast Everett, according to the City of Everett neighborhood map. The shooting happened near homes and community facilities shown on that map, which is why detectives are hoping nearby residents or businesses might have seen or recorded something that helps explain how a routine weeknight ended in gunfire.
