Haralson County resident Michael David Moore is set to spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to child molestation and aggravated sexual battery, authorities said.
Moore, who was arrested in 2024, entered a guilty plea on May 18 and received a life sentence with 20 years to serve in prison. Investigators said the case broke open after the child’s parents recorded what they described as inappropriate communications between Moore and the child, a key piece of evidence that helped drive the prosecution.
The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office provided the booking image used in coverage of the case and confirmed the sentencing details, according to Atlanta News First. The outlet reports that the parents’ recordings were central to the investigation.
Georgia law and penalties
Under Georgia law, aggravated child molestation can be punished by life in prison or by a split sentence of at least 25 years in custody followed by probation for life. Aggravated sexual battery carries similar maximum penalties under state statute. For full statutory details, see O.C.G.A. § 16-6-4 and O.C.G.A. § 16-6-22.2.
