What started as a search warrant at a Parsons home turned into a rescue operation, according to Decatur County deputies, who say they pulled a person from captivity and arrested two suspects on Wednesday.
Deputies served the warrant at a residence in the 3400 block of Highway 412 and found three people inside. Investigators allege that one of them had been holding and assaulting another person against their will. The two alleged offenders were taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Decatur County Jail.
The Decatur County Sheriff's Office carried out the search with backup from the Jackson Police Department SWAT team and reported seizing methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and digital scales, according to WSMV. Officials identified the suspects as Terry Brodie and Patricia Morgan and alleged that Brodie was holding and assaulting the third person inside the home. Both suspects were booked on multiple drug-related counts, and Brodie also faces allegations that include false imprisonment, aggravated domestic assault, violation of probation, and an alleged violation of the sex-offender registry.
Legal implications
The listed charges include false imprisonment and aggravated domestic assault, both prosecuted under Tennessee criminal statutes. False imprisonment is defined in state law at T.C.A. § 39-13-302, as detailed in offense classifications and manuals from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Prosecutors in Decatur County will decide whether to seek additional charges after they review the evidence gathered during the search.
What's next
Authorities have not yet released information on bail amounts, arraignment dates, or other early court filings. As reported by WSMV, the sheriff's office has confirmed the suspects' names but is keeping further details under wraps while the investigation remains active.
