What started as a quick burger run at Keizer Station ended with gunfire, shattered glass and a man in the hospital. Keizer police said Wednesday that two people have now been arrested in connection with the Feb. 9 shooting that injured two victims and blew out a family’s car windows, after detectives hit an apartment with an early-morning search warrant. A third suspect is still on the run and is considered armed and dangerous while investigators keep working the case.
As reported by KOIN, detectives arrested 20-year-old Ethan Armenta-Lagunas at an apartment in the 1600 block of Madras Street SE and 18-year-old Gabriel “Alex” Javier in the area of Monroe Avenue SE in Salem. Police say both men face counts that include first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person. Authorities identified 22-year-old Anthony Taylor-Manriquez as a third suspect who remains at large.
In a Feb. 11 post, the Keizer Police Department said a Salem family of four had just left the In-N-Out at Keizer Station when shots rang out near the intersection of Keizer Station Boulevard and Ulali Drive NE. The gunfire shattered the vehicle’s windows and left the driver with a serious but non-life-threatening head wound. Local reporting by the Keizertimes captured the family’s account and noted detectives initially had no suspects in the first shooting.
Warrant Served, Firearms Seized
KOIN reported that Keizer police, backed up by a Salem SWAT team, served a court-authorized search warrant at the Madras Street apartment around 4 a.m. and recovered several firearms inside the residence, according to authorities. Officers said evidence collected during the search helped lead to the arrests, and investigators say the probe is still very much active.
Victims And Community Reaction
The family has urged witnesses to come forward as the father recovers, and neighbors say the shootings have rattled people in the shopping-center area. The Keizertimes later reported that the delivery driver injured in a related early-morning incident was treated at Salem Hospital and has been recuperating at home.
What Happens Next
The arrests will be forwarded to Marion County prosecutors for charging decisions and arraignment. Keizer police asked anyone with information about the still-at-large suspect to contact the department as detectives continue to collect evidence and review video and witness tips.
