Overnight gunfire in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood left a man in his 30s dead early Monday, after a burst of shots turned a quiet block into a homicide scene just before 1 a.m., police said.

According to homicide detectives, the victim, described as being in his 30s, was shot on the 3100 block of G Street, then ran toward Kensington Avenue and East Clearfield Street, where he collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, as reported by 6abc. Officials said the call for the shooting came in just before 1 a.m.

At the scene, officers recovered at least 15 spent shell casings and found a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.
