Kyle is getting its grocery heavyweight back in a big way. The newly renovated H-E-B Plus at 5401 S. FM 1626 in Kyle reopens Friday, May 1, rolling out a sit-down True Texas BBQ counter, a full H-E-B Wellness primary-care clinic and a slate of upgraded departments under one very large roof.
The store is marking the occasion with a customer appreciation event starting at noon, where shoppers can sample the new dining options and check out expanded produce, bakery and home sections. The remodel is pitched as turning the location into a single stop for groceries, health care and on-site dining for Kyle and nearby communities.
What The Store Now Offers
As listed on H-E-B, the Kyle Plus now features a True Texas BBQ counter, Sushiya sushi, Meal Simple prepared meals and a Mia’s Mirror boutique, alongside standard services like curbside pickup and delivery. The store listing also notes a pharmacy drive-thru and on-site H-E-B Fuel as part of the remodeled footprint.
Expansion Details And Permits
State filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation put the Kyle project at a 32,952-square-foot addition, marked as completed March 26, 2026, with an estimated cost of about $28 million. Figures H-E-B reported to local outlets put the added space closer to 24,000 square feet and the total store size at about 176,249 square feet. The two sets of numbers are described as likely reflecting different measurement methods used in permit filings versus internal store layout totals.
True Texas BBQ And The In-Store Kitchen
True Texas BBQ is the star of the in-store restaurant lineup, with an emphasis on pitmaster cooking and on-site smoking. "Our TTBBQ starts with all-natural meats that we slow smoke to perfection in-house over natural Texas oak wood," True Texas BBQ states, noting that many locations offer curbside and delivery ordering options in addition to walk-up service.
H-E-B Wellness Clinic: What It Will Do
Inside the store, an H-E-B Wellness Primary Care clinic offers primary care visits, sick care, basic lab services, immunizations, physical therapy and nutrition guidance, according to H-E-B Wellness. The company describes the program as "Helping Texans live well" and positions the clinics as a convenient complement to in-store pharmacy and other health services.
Local Convenience And Next Steps
Local reporting highlights several other upgrades: a Blooms by H-E-B floral shop, a larger Home by H-E-B section, a remodeled Mia’s Mirror and an updated Texas Backyard garden department. Curbside pickup has also been expanded to 41 pull-through spaces and 16 standard spots, figures shared with CultureMap Austin. The outlet also notes that the store reopened with a customer appreciation event on Friday, May 1.
For Kyle shoppers, the refreshed H-E-B Plus folds more shopping, dining and non-emergency care into a single destination, part of a broader trend the company has been testing across Central Texas. Expect the parking lot to stay busy as residents kick the tires on the new setup, and call the store or the wellness line for details on clinic appointments and hours.
