Two Lake City men are headed to federal prison for a very long time after prosecutors say they were caught moving kilogram-level quantities of nearly pure methamphetamine. Terry Alonza Brown, 54, was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in federal prison, while Doug Bradley, 46, received a 15-year term. Authorities say routine traffic stops and a follow-up search at Brown’s home turned up multiple vacuum-sealed bricks of meth and thousands of dollars in cash.

How investigators say the case unfolded

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, the investigation hit a turning point on June 23, 2025. Surveillance teams watched Bradley walk into Brown’s Lake City home, then leave shortly afterward carrying a bag. When officers pulled Bradley over for a traffic infraction, they reported finding a vacuum-sealed plastic package that later tested as 100 percent pure methamphetamine weighing 1,340.2 grams.

What was seized at Brown’s vehicle and home

Later that same day, officers stopped Brown and searched his vehicle. Prosecutors say they discovered a multi-colored bag holding two vacuum-sealed packages and other bags, together totaling 2,694 grams of methamphetamine that tested at 99 percent purity. Investigators then secured a search warrant for Brown’s home, where they seized two black bags with more drug packages, $12,000 from a safe, and another $1,000 from a bedroom. The home stash later tested at 1,786.8 grams of meth that was also 99 percent pure, as reported by WFTV.

Plea deals and past convictions

Court records show Bradley pleaded guilty on Nov. 12, 2025, and Brown followed with his guilty plea on Dec. 17, 2025. Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, both men had prior federal drug convictions. Because the offenses involved 500 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, each man faced a statutory mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison.

Sentences handed down in federal court

As reported by WFTV, federal judges ultimately ordered Brown to serve 17 years and six months in prison and Bradley to serve 15 years. Prosecutors say the case was handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Why it matters locally

Seizures of this size and purity are not everyday events in rural North Florida, which is exactly why they worry law enforcement. A single kilogram can translate into thousands of individual doses on the street. Local and federal task forces say cases like this are a priority because dismantling distributors at this level can interrupt regional drug pipelines that have been tied to increases in overdoses and related crime.
