A holiday weekend night at The Village at Lake Las Vegas took a jarring turn Saturday when a golf cart plowed into several pedestrians along the lakeside walkways, sending one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while others declined medical treatment at the scene. Henderson police say speed and possible impairment are both on the table as they dig into what went wrong during what should have been a laid-back evening by the water.
According to the Henderson Police Department, as reported by FOX5, the crash happened around 7:48 p.m. near the Luna Rossa restaurant in The Village at Lake Las Vegas. Officers say an unidentified driver in a golf cart hit several people on the walkways before being taken into custody at the scene.
Where It Happened
The Village at Lake Las Vegas is a compact waterfront district known for its restaurants, shops and seasonal events, all clustered around the lake. The community’s official site, Lake Las Vegas, describes MonteLago Village and the lakeside boardwalk as the area’s central hub for dining and strolling along the water. Luna Rossa is one of the restaurants that anchors that scene, typically drawing visitors for pasta and patio views, not police tape.
Investigation Under Way
Henderson police told FOX5 that "speed and impairment are being considered" as detectives work to piece together how the golf cart ended up striking pedestrians on the lakeside path. Officials have not publicly released the driver’s name or any formal charges, saying the case is still active.
The driver remains in custody while investigators review witness accounts, video footage and forensic evidence from the scene. Authorities say they plan to release additional details as the investigation moves forward.
