Austin Shootings Keep Piling Up This Month
Monday’s gunfire is the latest in a series of recent shootings on the West Side. On Friday, May 15, a lunchtime shooting in the 5800 block of West Division left a 40-year-old man critically wounded, FOX 32 Chicago reported. ABC7 reported on May 18 that a separate incident in South Austin sent multiple victims to hospitals with serious injuries. Together, those cases have added to a busy and unsettling stretch of gun violence in and around Austin this month.
Area 4 detectives continue to investigate the Fulton Street shooting, and authorities have not announced any arrests, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The investigation is ongoing, and police had not released further details as of Tuesday morning.
