Overnight gunfire turned part of Homestead into a crime scene early Sunday, sending four people to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, according to Allegheny County police. First responders were called out around 1:30 a.m., where they found a man who had been shot in the hand and foot. He was taken by ambulance for treatment. A short time later, three more victims showed up at a nearby hospital on their own with gunshot wounds to their feet and two arms. County officials said all four victims are in stable condition.
County dispatchers had received reports of shots fired in both the 200 block of W. 8th Avenue and the 100 block of 8th Avenue, CBS Pittsburgh reported. Allegheny County police responded to the scene and have opened an investigation into what led up to the shooting.
Victims and injuries
According to WPXI, first responders found the initial victim at the scene and took him to the hospital by ambulance. The three other victims arrived at a hospital shortly afterward without being transported from the scene. Officials said one person was shot in the hand and foot, another was shot in the foot, and two others were shot in the arms.
Police appeal for tips
Detectives with the Allegheny County Police Department are handling the case and are asking anyone with information to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS, according to Allegheny County Police. Callers can remain anonymous, and investigators say the line is the main way for residents to share information on ongoing cases like this one.
