A late-night fire reported as a possible explosion outside a mobile home on Libby Lane, just south of Pearland, left seven people hurt on Monday. First responders arrived after a 9:10 p.m. call and found two people with major burns, one person in critical condition and four others with minor burns, authorities said. The Pearland Fire Department added that the blaze did not threaten nearby homes and that crews stayed on scene into the night.
According to FOX 26 Houston, dispatchers initially labeled the call as a possible explosion at a home on Libby Lane. Arriving crews discovered all seven injured people at the scene, and investigators had not yet identified what sparked the fire.
Scene and response
Firefighters, police and EMS teams secured the area, treated the injured on site and then transported them to hospitals, city officials said. The Pearland Fire Department, which provides both fire and emergency medical services across the city and its surrounding jurisdiction, is leading the investigation into what caused the blaze, per the City of Pearland Fire Department.
Burn care and safety
Serious burns often require specialized treatment and can mean a long road to recovery. The American Burn Association advises that deep or extensive burns, possible inhalation injuries, or burns to the face, hands, feet or genitals be evaluated at an ABA-verified burn center. For smaller burns, the association recommends immediately cooling the area under running water and seeking medical care if symptoms worsen or do not improve.
Investigation and what remains unclear
Officials have not released the names of the victims or specified where they were taken for treatment, and Pearland authorities have not confirmed how the injured individuals are connected, FOX 26 Houston reports. Fire investigators remain on scene examining the mobile home and surrounding area as they search for a cause.
