Lower South End is about to level up its workout game. Carbon Performance is building out a one-stop luxury gym and wellness hub at 3325 S. Tryon St., aiming to open later this summer. The club is slated to span roughly 44,000 to 45,000 square feet, with a sprawling floor plan for strength training, specialty classes and spa-style recovery. Construction crews are still on site, and company representatives are targeting a late July opening for the first wave of members.
The Tennessee-based brand started as a small operation in Franklin, Tenn., in 2020 before expanding into Nashville and Atlanta. The Charlotte outpost will be Carbon’s largest location so far, according to CityBiz, and it continues a run of new openings as the company pushes deeper into major Southeast markets.
Commercial real estate records list Carbon Performance as the tenant at 3325 S. Tryon St., with a lease for about 43,833 square feet, per Fowler Property Advisors. That footprint would make it one of the largest single‑site fitness projects to hit Lower South End in recent years.
What You'll Find Inside
The club’s Charlotte page outlines more than 220 pieces of equipment, including 175+ strength machines, 40+ cardio machines and 20+ cable stations, according to Carbon Performance. Plans also call for a 4,000‑square‑foot women’s‑only training area and a dedicated reformer Pilates studio.
Programming will range from group classes and HYROX sessions to staffed personal training. The company also touts a macro‑friendly shake bar and an on-site retail shop stocked with supplements and apparel. Locker rooms are set to feature dry saunas and a 360‑degree posing room so members can track progress under flattering, photo-ready lighting.
Recovery And The Elite Lounge
Recovery is getting top billing. Axios reports that the members‑only “Carbon Elite Lounge” is expected to blend co‑working space with private cold plunges, saunas and showers, plus compression boots, Theraguns, hydromassage chairs and CryoLounge recovery seats.
According to Axios, presale memberships currently range from $54.99 to $134.99 bi‑weekly, which shakes out to roughly $110 to $270 per month. Company representatives told the outlet they are eyeing a late July opening at the Tryon Street location. The same report notes Carbon is exploring potential add‑ons such as a barbershop and an in‑house wellness clinic that could provide blood work and peptide or hormone services, though those pieces are still being finalized because of licensing requirements.
Presale And Local Access
The Charlotte page for Carbon lists the presale as live and directs interested residents to a waitlist, along with posted weekday and weekend hours and a contact phone number, per Carbon Performance. The marketing pitch leans into a full‑service model with towels, locker room saunas and recovery tech rather than a bare‑bones, budget setup.
With a central LoSo address, the club is positioned to pull from nearby multifamily buildings and the transit lines that keep the neighborhood busy from morning commuters to late‑night brewery crowds.
“Carbon Performance’s motto is ‘more than just a gym,’” the chain’s founders said in a statement reported by CityBiz. If the company hits its timeline, the club will join a growing wave of high‑end wellness concepts that are turning LoSo into a neighborhood where workouts, recovery and lifestyle services live side by side. We will be watching for final word on clinic licensing and an official grand opening date.
