Lottery officials confirmed that the neighborhood deli sold a Powerball ticket that matched enough numbers to snag a $50,000 prize in Wednesday night's drawing, and locals have been dropping in with a little extra curiosity in their step.
According to Shore News Network, the New York Lottery listed the ticket as a third-prize winner from the May 27 drawing and said it was sold at Tulcimex Deli Grocery, 1197A Bryant Ave in the Bronx. Officials did not release the winner's name. The Lottery also said it contributed $3.6 billion to support public schools during fiscal year 2024–2025, per New York Lottery materials.
Winning numbers and prize tier
Wednesday's Powerball numbers were 5, 14, 21, 31 and 51 with Powerball 13 and a Power Play of 4x, according to the official results on Powerball.com. Hitting four numbers plus the Powerball lands a ticket in the Match-4-plus-Powerball prize tier, which pays $50,000. The draw summary for May 27 shows multiple winners at that level.
Another $50K ticket in upstate New York
The New York Lottery said two third-prize tickets were sold in the state for that drawing. One of the $50,000 tickets was sold at a Wegmans at 3175 Chili Ave. in the town of Chili, near Rochester, according to reporting by the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle via AOL. Winners generally have up to one year to claim most draw-game prizes in New York, depending on the game.
