A 59-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon near North 40th Street and West Burleigh Street on Milwaukee’s north side, according to police. Officers say life-saving measures at the scene were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead there as homicide detectives took over the case, which remains an active investigation.

According to a Milwaukee Police news release reported by TMJ4, the shooting happened at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday near N. 40th St. and W. Burleigh St. Investigators say the victim was shot during a fight, and a 49-year-old man was arrested later that afternoon in connection with the attack.
