A late-morning death investigation on San Antonio’s West Side has turned a normally busy stretch of roadway into a crime scene, after officers discovered a man’s body off Marbach Road near South Ellison Drive on Wednesday.
Police were called out just after 11 a.m., found the man, and pronounced him dead at the scene. Officers quickly roped off the area, and patrol units and detectives remained on site into the afternoon while they combed through the scene for evidence.

Marbach Road’s Safety Spotlight
This same stretch of Marbach Road has already been under a harsh spotlight. In October, a John Jay High School student was struck and killed while crossing there, and the city has floated near-term changes such as a flashing crosswalk signal and longer school-zone hours, as reported by KSAT. The recent safety debate has left neighbors and school officials paying close attention to anything that brings police back to the corridor.
