A Durham man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries Friday after someone opened fire from a passing vehicle in the middle of the day, according to police. Officers were dispatched just before 1 p.m. to the 1000 block of Merrick Street, where they found the wounded man. The vehicle that investigators say was used to fire the shots had already left the area by the time officers arrived.
Durham police told ABC11 Raleigh-Durham that preliminary information indicates the shots came from a vehicle and that no suspect information had been released. Detectives were actively investigating the shooting, and additional details were not immediately available, the station reported.
