A deadly burst of violence unfolded late Friday morning near 9th Street and Atkinson Avenue on Milwaukee's north side, where a 47-year-old man was found beaten to death and the suspected attacker later died from what police say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to FOX6 Milwaukee, Milwaukee Police said officers discovered the victim around 10:16 a.m., and his injuries appeared consistent with blunt-force trauma. The station reports that the suspect also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police have not released the names of either man or indicated a possible motive, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Investigation underway
Milwaukee Police homicide detectives are leading the investigation and spent Friday collecting evidence and speaking with people in the area. Detectives said they are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and checking for any available video as they work to piece together what happened.
