
Friday morning gunfire rattled a stretch of east Durham after a girl was shot on North Hoover Road, sending her to the hospital and putting the neighborhood on edge yet again.
Police Response and Victim Condition
According to CBS17, Durham police were called to the 1100 block of North Hoover Road just before 9:30 a.m. Officers found a girl who had been shot and had her taken to a nearby hospital. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The department told CBS17 that detectives are investigating and that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident. So far, no arrests have been announced.
Hoover Road’s Recent Incidents
This is not the first time trouble has hit this block in recent weeks. On May 18, a separate shooting in the same 1100 block left a woman and a man hurt, highlighting recurring safety concerns along the corridor, per woman shot, man hurt by flying glass. Those earlier reports also described non-life-threatening injuries and investigators asking for public tips.
