One person was killed Wednesday morning in the Town of Eagle after a single-vehicle crash on County Highway N ended in a deadly fire, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway, slammed into a tree and then caught fire, trapping the lone occupant inside. Emergency crews pronounced the person dead at the scene, and the sheriff’s office says the crash remains under investigation.
In a press release, the sheriff’s department reported that the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames after it left the road and struck the tree. One person was found dead inside the burned vehicle, and deputies reiterated that the circumstances leading up to the crash are still being reviewed, per TMJ4.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, there were 576 traffic deaths statewide in 2024, with speed and impairment cited as contributing factors in a substantial share of fatal crashes.
