New Braunfels is getting a fresh spot to sip. Wine Folks, a locally owned bottle shop and wine bar, is moving into Town Creek at 967 N. Academy Ave, with owners Danielle and Jason Grantham eyeing a June opening. The couple plans to blend a relaxed bar and lounge with retail shelves, offering beer, wine, Texas craft beers, artisan snacks and nonalcoholic options for both takeout and on-site service.
Owners Aim For A Neighborhood Hub
Speaking with Community Impact, Danielle Grantham said the goal is to be open in June and to create something that is, in her words, "more than beer and wine." She described Wine Folks as "an open door to family, connection and community," according to the outlet. The Granthams say they want the space to feel like a true neighborhood hangout where locals can unwind, test out new bottles and catch up with friends.
Where It's Located
Wine Folks is taking a spot at 967 N. Academy Ave inside the Town Creek mixed-use development. A LoopNet listing for 967 N Academy notes the property sits within walking distance of downtown New Braunfels and Landa Park, putting it in reach of nearby residents as well as river visitors. The commercial building's leasing brochure shows multiple retail suites marketed to food and beverage operators.
What To Expect Inside
According to Community Impact, Wine Folks will combine a bottle shop with a place to linger, selling wine by the bottle alongside wine by the glass, draft beer and other pours. Shelves will also feature Texas craft beers and artisan snacks, with nonalcoholic beverages in the mix. The setup is designed to serve both grab-and-go shoppers and guests who want to settle into a neighborhood lounge vibe.
Why It Matters
New Braunfels sits at the edge of Texas Hill Country wine country, and local demand has grown as more visitors roll in for weekend trips. A guide in the San Antonio Express-News highlights wineries and tasting rooms within driving distance, underscoring the regional appetite for wine-focused stops. For residents and the steady stream of visitors floating the Comal River or detouring to Gruene, another neighborhood bottle shop and lounge adds one more option to the list.
The Granthams say they are targeting a June opening, with a fuller summer debut on the table if permits or build-out push things back. Wine Folks is sharing progress updates and any soft-opening details on its Facebook page.
