Brush Park’s skyline is getting a new hangout spot. Topa, a Mediterranean-inspired rooftop bar, is set to open Thursday on the 11th floor of the AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle, serving wine-forward and mezcal cocktails alongside coastal-style small plates meant for sharing. With indoor-outdoor seating and downtown views, the new bar is clearly aiming to be a holiday-weekend magnet for hotel guests and Detroit locals looking to linger above the street.
According to Crain's Detroit Business, Topa is scheduled to debut on Thursday and will occupy the hotel’s roof terrace next to the restored Bonstelle Theatre. The outlet reports that the project is part of a broader slate of hospitality offerings at the property developed by the Roxbury Group.
Menu and drinks
The food and drink lineup leans Mediterranean with a California twist, featuring shareable plates such as seared halloumi, crispy bacalao croquettes, fish and chicken skewers, and lamb chops, while the cocktail list includes a Kalimotxo, a mezcal-based Cyprus, and a white wine Coastside, according to Detroit Metro Times. Detroit Metro Times also names executive chef Jorge Morales as the culinary lead and notes that the bar’s name has Basque roots.

The AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle lists its address as 10 Eliot St., which puts Topa within walking distance of Little Caesars Arena and other downtown venues, per Marriott. The property promotes the rooftop as part of a broader mix of event and dining spaces designed to serve both out-of-town visitors and nearby residents.
“Topa represents the next chapter of the hospitality experience,” Roxbury Group president James Van Dyke said in a statement, as reported by Detroit Metro Times. The outlet also notes that reclaimed wood from the historic Cadillac Hotel in Lexington was incorporated into the build-out, and the bar’s Instagram account shares updates under topadetroit.
