
A quiet morning yesterday on a rural Newaygo County road turned tragic when a 16-year-old passenger was killed, and a 38-year-old motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a crash on North Woodbridge Road in Merrill Township.
Deputies said the teen, a Fremont resident, died at the scene. The motorcycle operator, a 38-year-old Newaygo man, was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital with serious injuries. Newaygo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash and are handling the investigation.
The collision happened around 11:15 a.m. yesterday on North Woodbridge Road near West 8 Mile Road, according to MLive. Authorities have not released names for either person involved.
