
Seattle police are searching for a gunman after a woman was shot in the leg during a gathering at a North Beacon Hill home early Sunday. The woman was driven to Harborview Medical Center and is listed in stable but serious condition. Witnesses told officers the shooter showed up in a vehicle, got into an altercation and then took off before police arrived.
Police respond to early-morning call
Officers were called to reports of a shooting near South State Street and 17th Avenue South just before 6 a.m., according to FOX 13 Seattle. Before first responders could get there, two people loaded the wounded woman into a car and drove her to Harborview, and investigators later found evidence of gunfire at the scene.
Gun Violence Reduction Unit leads probe
Detectives with the Seattle Police Department's Gun Violence Reduction Unit are leading the investigation, according to the department's online Seattle Police Department blotter. Police are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and asking anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage from around the time of the shooting to contact investigators.
How police say it unfolded
Investigators say an unidentified man arrived in a vehicle, got into an altercation with the victim and fired a gun, according to FOX 13 Seattle. He then fled in an unknown direction. Authorities also reported that gunfire struck at least two other vehicles parked near the home.
