What was supposed to be a routine early-morning trip to let the dog out in northwest Oklahoma City turned into a terrifying attack that left one resident bruised, bitten and with a badly damaged home. The woman, identified in local reporting as Jen Brakhage, says a man came at her without warning, striking, stomping and even biting her as the struggle spilled across her property.
Attack Spills Into Front Yard
According to KOCO, Brakhage told reporters the chaos started when a man walked up and taunted her dog outside her home near Northwest 31st Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue. She says the confrontation quickly turned violent in the front yard. Neighbors later pointed to shattered windows, blood inside the home and even a tree torn from the front yard as evidence of how intense the struggle became. Police told the station a suspect has been taken into custody.
Victim Describes Harrowing Ordeal
Brakhage said the man “walked up real fast” before suddenly striking her, then “punching me in the face” and eventually biting her ear, according to KOCO. She recounted screaming for help and calling police while the attacker continued to hit her. What started as a quiet moment with her dog turned into the kind of front-yard nightmare neighbors say they’ve never seen on their block.
Police Flood Street, Probe Continues
Officers swarmed the neighborhood early Wednesday, canvassing the area, gathering evidence and talking with witnesses. Investigators remained on scene as daylight broke, working to piece together how the attack unfolded. Authorities have not yet publicly released any charging information, and the Oklahoma City Police Department did not immediately provide additional details beyond confirming to reporters that a suspect is in custody.
Neighbors Rattled, Call for Info
Residents in the area say they are stunned that such a violent assault happened right outside a home many consider part of a normally quiet stretch of northwest Oklahoma City. Neighbors expressed concern for Brakhage and broader worries about safety on their block. They say they want anyone who might have video, photos or other information to share it with investigators to help figure out exactly what happened and why.
