City officials said the operation is focused in the 15100 block of Chaucer Drive and urged neighbors to steer clear of the immediate area and use alternate routes while officers work the scene.

What Officials Posted And When
As reported by NBC Chicago, the advisory went out on social media at about 6:30 a.m., giving early commuters a heads-up about the activity on Chaucer Drive.
Police did not release any additional details about the nature of the operation, and it was not immediately clear how long officers would remain on scene beyond the "several hours" mentioned in the original alert.
Safety And Traffic Guidance
In its X post, the city stressed that "There is no threat to the community at this time" and asked people to avoid the immediate area, according to the social post from the City of Oak Forest.
Officials did not share any operational specifics, but the message made it clear that while neighbors might see a lot of squad cars, they were not being asked to shelter in place or take any special precautions beyond steering clear of the active block.
Local Context And Contacts
The operation comes just as the city prepares for a leadership change at the top of its police department. Earlier in May, Oak Forest announced that Police Chief Scott Durano will retire May 29 after 31 years of service, according to the Oak Forest city website.
Residents needing non-emergency assistance while the operation is underway can find contact information on the same city site or call the police non-emergency line at 708‑687‑1376.
