A quiet stretch near downtown Raleigh turned into a crime scene early Thursday after a stabbing that sent one person to the hospital and landed another in custody, according to police.
Officers responded to the area of East South Street and South Person Street, where they found a victim who was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries described as minor. Raleigh police detained one person in connection with the attack and said the investigation is ongoing, CBS17 reported. Authorities did not immediately release the names of those involved or say whether any charges had been filed.
Downtown safety and recent violence
The stabbing adds to simmering concerns about fights and violence in Raleigh’s downtown nightlife corridor. In April, an altercation on Fayetteville Street left six people injured. Wake County prosecutors later dropped charges in that case after reviewing surveillance footage, The News & Observer reported.

As detectives work through the latest case, Raleigh police are asking anyone who saw the incident or who has video to contact investigators while they process evidence and interview witnesses, according to CBS17. The department has not released any information about a possible motive and said the investigation remains active.
