Early morning quiet turned into a mess of broken glass at Garfield Station Apartments in Parkland, where four suspects are still on the run after a string of car prowls left 14 vehicles with smashed windows. Surveillance footage reviewed by deputies shows a white sedan rolling into the complex, four people climbing out, two moving between cars while the other two hang back as lookouts. Neighbors say it comes on the heels of earlier prowls in the same lot, and they are pressing officials for answers.

Police release describes the scene

According to a news release cited by The News Tribune, deputies say the break ins happened on May 16 at about 4:35 a.m. at Garfield Station Apartments, where they found “a total of 14 vehicles had smashed out windows and appeared to have been rummaged through.” Surveillance video reportedly shows a white sedan pull into the parking lot at about 3:09 a.m., and four individuals get out. Deputies say two prowled vehicles while the other two acted as lookouts.

Investigators want identifying details

The sheriff's office is asking residents to study any footage they have for specific details, including the suspects' clothing, hair, the white sedan, and even “the particular way one of the subjects walks,” and to pass along anything that might help. As noted by Pierce County, residents can call the non emergency line at 253-287-4455 or file an online report for vehicle prowls. Detectives say even small clues from cameras or witnesses can help them narrow the list of possible suspects.

Neighbors say this isn't isolated

Residents told The News Tribune they are fed up because some of the same vehicles were hit again after prowls the previous day, May 15, according to the release. Deputy Carly Cappetto, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, confirmed the earlier incidents and said investigators are reviewing the available video in an effort to identify the suspects. Property management at Garfield Station did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pierce County Sheriff's Office non emergency line or submit a report online, and tips can be given anonymously through local tip lines. We will update this story if deputies release images or additional details about the suspects.
