A Thursday night stabbing in Penn Hills has left a 45-year-old woman dead, and county detectives are working to untangle what happened on a residential stretch of Penny Drive.
Allegheny County police say officers were called to the 700 block of Penny Drive around 9:39 p.m. Thursday for reports of a woman who had been stabbed. Before first responders arrived, the victim was driven in a private vehicle to UPMC Mercy, where she was later pronounced dead.
Victim identified
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 45-year-old Jinx Hairston, according to WTAE. Investigators say the probe into the circumstances surrounding the Penny Drive stabbing is ongoing.

Detectives are now turning to the public for help. Anyone with information is asked to call the county tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. According to Allegheny County Police, callers can remain anonymous under county guidance.
