According to CBS Baltimore, county police initially posted on X that detectives were responding to the 14000 block of Sawmill Court and later confirmed that an adult man had been pronounced dead at the scene. The outlet reported that police said the homicide occurred at about 2:25 p.m. and that a suspect had been detained.

Neighbors described a chaotic and frightening few minutes, with gunfire and screams breaking the usual calm of the subdivision. One resident told WBAL that at first, it was not even clear that anything was wrong. "(My son) heard a couple gunshots, didn’t think much of it (because) there are hunters in the area from time to time," Tony Alcala said to the station. WBAL noted the shooting came less than 24 hours after a deadly crash in the Phoenix area, leaving already rattled neighbors even more on edge.
Police response and investigation
Baltimore County Police told the public in a social media post that detectives were on the scene and that "there is no threat to the community," as reported by CBS Baltimore.
