Friday nights are getting louder and brighter downtown, as the Plaza Hotel & Casino brings back its free weekly "Welcome to the Weekend" fireworks run, turning its roof into a summer-long block party. The shows are slated every Friday from June 5 through Sept. 4, with the rooftop pool opening earlier for viewing, music and food. Organizers say the series is designed as a family-friendly way to launch the weekend in downtown Las Vegas.
According to Plaza Hotel & Casino, the Welcome to the Weekend lineup stretches from June 5 to September 4, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and fireworks set to go off at 9:10 p.m. each Friday night. Guests can RSVP in advance, and the hotel is also selling a VIP package that offers perks such as a champagne toast and priority entry for rooftop viewing.
As reported by FOX5, the free displays are modeled after Disneyland-style fireworks shows and will be launched from the Plaza’s towers, making them visible across much of downtown. FOX5 also notes that a portion of Main Street in front of the Plaza will be closed to vehicles during the shows to create a pedestrian viewing zone, and that all displays remain subject to weather conditions.
Rooftop Pool Party And VIP Perks
New this season, the Plaza is pairing the fireworks with a rooftop pool party starting at 7 p.m., featuring bites from the hotel’s food truck and drinks from the pool bar, according to the property. The pool deck is billed as the prime spot for photos, and the hotel is continuing its "TNT Ignitor" program, which taps a special guest to spark the first blast of the show.
Where The Plaza Fits Into The City’s Fireworks Season
The city’s broader summer fireworks slate features multiple launch sites and downtown options. Visit Las Vegas lists the Plaza among the downtown picks and highlights that several resorts will light up the sky during June and July. That makes the Plaza’s weekly series a convenient alternative for visitors whose trips do not coincide with the bigger, one-night-only Saturday events.
The fireworks are free to attend but can be adjusted or called off if the weather does not cooperate, and organizers say any changes will be shared on the Plaza’s social channels. Expect packed sidewalks on Main Street while the shows are going, and consider using public transit or simply hoofing it, as FOX5 reports that vehicle access near the property will be limited during viewing times.
