Safety context for residents
The South Jordan Fire Department has previously warned residents about risks from improperly charged lithium-ion batteries and has urged the use of working smoke alarms and safe charging habits in the home. South Jordan City Fire Department safety materials emphasize simple precautions, such as not leaving devices charging unattended and keeping exits clear, which can help prevent fast-moving structure fires.
Investigators remained on scene Monday morning, and officials asked anyone with information to contact the fire department or local dispatch. Authorities said they will release more details as the investigation continues.
