A quiet Rock Hill morning was shattered early Thursday when gunfire erupted at a home on Henderson Street, leaving two people hurt but expected to recover, police said. Officers arrived just before 6 a.m. and found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and a 36-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting in the 1000 block of Henderson Street triggered an hours-long police response as detectives locked down the area and processed the scene.
According to Queen City News, Rock Hill police said the department’s Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the case, with officers canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and any clues captured on cameras. Authorities did not immediately release information about a suspect or possible motive. Investigators stayed on scene into the morning, collecting forensic evidence and speaking with neighbors in hopes of piecing together what led up to the gunfire.
Another violent week in the city
The incident adds to a stretch of violent cases that have kept Rock Hill in the headlines. In April, a 33-year-old man was found fatally shot on Flint Hill Street, a killing that was covered in a Hoodline report, and earlier this month authorities arrested a suspect in the May 16 killing of a 19-year-old on Mount Gallant Road, according to The Herald. Those high-profile investigations have had detectives chasing neighborhood leads, combing through surveillance footage and following up on tips from residents.
Police ask for tips, video

Tips can also be submitted online through the department’s website, where more details about the case and anonymous tip options are available. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division said they plan to release additional information as it becomes available.
