A San Antonio woman trying to pay for a service on the West Side ended up robbed and pistol-whipped instead, according to police.
The attack happened around 2:34 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Prosperity Drive, and the suspect is still on the loose.
As reported by News 4 San Antonio, investigators say the woman had gone to meet a man to pay him for a service when he noticed she was carrying more cash than expected. Police say he demanded more money, assaulted her, then "pistol-whipped" her before taking the rest of her cash and other belongings.
Authorities say they are looking for a 31-year-old suspect in connection with the case.
Recent West Side Robberies Add To Unease
The West Side has seen more than its share of violent stickups lately. In February, a man was pistol-whipped and shot during a robbery in the same part of town, according to KSAT.
Local coverage has also pointed back to a December 2024 carjacking near Glendale Avenue and Prosperity Drive that left a victim pistol-whipped, as reported by MySanAntonio.
Police Response And How To Share Tips
SAPD detectives are investigating and asking anyone with information to contact the department’s Robbery Unit at 210-207-0300 or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867). For non-emergencies and general inquiries, the city lists 210-207-7273, according to the City of San Antonio.
What Charges The Suspect Could Face
If investigators determine a firearm was used or displayed during the theft, the case could be filed as aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony under Texas law. Additional assault charges may also apply depending on how the weapon was used and the extent of the victim’s injuries, as outlined in Texas Penal Code §29.03 and §22.02.
The investigation is still active, and police have released only limited details so far. Anyone with footage or information is urged to contact SAPD or Crime Stoppers, authorities say, per News 4 San Antonio.
