A former New York City school worker is facing serious charges after police say he kissed a 14-year-old student on a Queens school bus earlier this year. Erick Rodriguez, 32, was arrested on Friday, May 15, 2026, and charged with sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest has prompted the NYPD to ask any other possible victims or witnesses to come forward.
According to PIX11, police say the incident happened near 75th Street and 30th Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 15. The student reported the contact to police on April 21, and investigators then identified Rodriguez as the suspect.
The NYPD’s Special Victims Division, which investigates sexual offenses against minors, is handling the case. As described by the NYPD, the division works with a 24-hour sex-crimes hotline that offers immediate reporting options, support for survivors, and referrals to victim-services resources.
Allegations and charges
Police told PIX11 that Rodriguez, who previously worked at the victim’s school, is accused of kissing the 14-year-old on the bus and sending the student nude photos. He was arrested and charged with sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. His arraignment was listed as pending Friday, and investigators are looking into whether there may be additional victims.
How to report what you know
The NYPD has asked anyone with information to call its sex-crimes hotlines or to submit tips to Crime Stoppers. The department lists 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and a Spanish-language line at 1-888-57-PISTA for anonymous tips. According to NYPD reporting guidance, people who have video or photos that might help detectives are urged to hold on to the original files and provide them directly to investigators.
Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in court, and the charges against him remain allegations that must be proven in a criminal proceeding. Authorities say anyone with additional information should contact the NYPD’s tip lines as the investigation continues.
