Red Cow’s 50th & France restaurant is going dark for a bit this week, but it is not a goodbye, just a makeover. The neighborhood staple is temporarily closing for a few weeks so crews can roll in and give the dining room a fresh new look. Regulars who count on that weekend brunch or post-work burger fix at this location will have to sit tight until the work wraps up.
As reported by the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal, the 50th & France outpost is slated to remain closed through May 31 while the redesign is underway. According to the Business Journal, the refresh takes its cues from a recent Red Cow project that earned local praise.
The Red Cow chain still lists the 50th & France site among its Twin Cities restaurants and highlights a menu built around handcrafted burgers, craft beer and weekend brunch. Red Cow also posts hours and contact details for the location.
Turnover, new faces and shifting storefronts at 50th & France
The 50th & France shopping strip has been in steady motion this year, with openings and lease changes reshaping the block and prompting operators to rethink their spaces. In April, the Star Tribune reported that Smith Coffee & Cafe will move into the former D’Amico & Sons space at 50th & France, a clear sign that turnover is still in play. Meanwhile, sports bar takeover coverage has tracked additional planned conversions on the strip, including a proposed sports bar buildout that could further shake up the dining mix.
When Red Cow is expected to be back
Per the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal, the 50th & France Red Cow is expected to reopen after May 31, once the work is complete. The restaurant’s location page does not yet share design specifics, and Red Cow remains the go-to spot for an official reopening update.
