Federal regulators and an online seller have pulled a sexual enhancement supplement from the market nationwide after lab testing turned up a potent surprise inside the capsules: three undeclared prescription drugs.
Best Supplements Best Prices voluntarily recalled its WAP Sensual Enhancement capsules after testing identified sildenafil, tadalafil, and flibanserin in the product. Sold online across the U.S., the capsules are now the subject of an urgent warning to consumers not to take any remaining pills.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the Los Angeles-based seller announced the voluntary, nationwide recall on May 11, and the agency published the notice on May 18. The FDA posting identifies the product UPC as 80174 00462 and states that the capsules were distributed nationwide via eBay. The notice also lists a seller contact email ([email protected]) and phone number (818-856-2141) for consumers seeking refunds.
As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the pills came in a bright red package with the product name splashed across the front in large white letters. The outlet noted that the company planned to contact customers by email and arrange full refunds for recalled items.
Why hidden ingredients are dangerous
Sildenafil and tadalafil are the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis and can lower blood pressure to dangerous levels if combined with nitrates, the Food and Drug Administration warns. The agency also cautioned that flibanserin, the active ingredient in Addyi, "can cause drowsiness, sedation, and dangerously low blood pressure and fainting, especially when combined with alcohol," according to the Food and Drug Administration.
What to do if you bought WAP Sensual Enhancement
If you have WAP Sensual Enhancement, stop taking it immediately and hang on to the packaging and lot information in case you need to report it. Contact your health care provider if you feel unwell and report any adverse events to the FDA's MedWatch program. The seller says it will notify purchasers and arrange refunds, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.
This recall is one of several recent actions by regulators flagging sexual enhancement supplements for hidden prescription drugs, underscoring the risks of buying such products online without clear manufacturer information. Consumers with questions should consult their physician and refer to the Food and Drug Administration for official recall details.
