A Davidsonville man is facing decades behind bars after an Anne Arundel County jury convicted him on seven counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, following a tip that started with a report on Reddit.
The jury returned its guilty verdict on May 28, 2026, in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. Judge Sidney Butcher immediately revoked the defendant’s bond and ordered him held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center while he awaits sentencing, which is scheduled for July 27, 2026.
According to prosecutors, the case traces back to April 2023, when a cybertip flagged content first reported on Reddit. Detectives followed identifying details in that report, including a username and an IP address, that led them to a Davidsonville address. Investigators obtained a search-and-seizure warrant on May 8, 2023, for the Reddit and Google Gmail accounts, which a judge reviewed and approved. Google later turned over data that investigators said tied an account to the defendant, and detectives reported finding still images and videos in Gmail folders during a residential search on Aug. 24, 2023, according to The BayNet.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline acts as a central clearinghouse for suspected child sexual exploitation reports, collecting submissions from platforms and routing them to law enforcement. NCMEC recorded tens of millions of such reports in 2023.
In this case, Reddit submitted a report in late February 2023 alleging that a user had uploaded 22 suspected files. That report was forwarded to Anne Arundel County detectives, as reported by The Banner. Investigators said the cybertip included enough technical details to narrow the search to an IP address in Davidsonville, setting the stage for the warrants that led to the Gmail evidence.
