Rockin' the Roebling, the free Thursday night concert series on the riverfront, is back on the Cincinnati summer calendar. The series runs every Thursday from May 21 through Sept. 10, stacking up 17 weeks of live local bands, food vendors and beer gardens on the Schmidlapp Event Lawn just outside the Cincinnati Lager House. Organizers are billing this run as The Build Up to the Boom, a weekly warmup for the city's Riverfest fireworks.
Lineup and sponsor
The Cincinnati Lager House lists the full schedule and confirms all 17 weeks of music, featuring acts such as Floyd and the Walkman, Gina and Johnny, the Michelle Robinson Band and Vinyl Countdown. The setup is more mini festival than simple stage show, with a main stage lawn, a Riverfront Chill Zone, a Beer Garden District and a rotating lineup of food vendors in a dedicated alley. Greg Hardman, managing member of Cincinnati Lager House, said in a statement to WLWT, "Rockin' the Roebling has always been about bringing people together."
Where and when
The Banks places the concerts on the Schmidlapp Event Lawn & Stage just outside the Lager House at 115 Joe Nuxhall Way, a short walk from Smale Riverfront Park and Great American Ball Park. Typical performance hours land in the early evening, with live music usually running about 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The riverfront spot makes it an easy swing for pre- or post-game crowds and for people strolling across the Roebling Bridge.
Leading up to Riverfest's 50th
The Build Up to the Boom theme is meant to ramp up excitement ahead of Riverfest's 50th-anniversary fireworks this Labor Day weekend. As reported by WCPO, organizers say the Sept. 6 Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks will be a larger 360-degree show that adds drones, extra barges and rooftop launch points to the mix. Rockin' the Roebling gives locals a weekly chance to sample bands, vendors and beer gardens ahead of the big waterfront celebration.
Plan your visit
The series is free and open to the public, and the Lager House notes family-friendly programming along with dog-friendly lawn space on its event page. Expect typical summer crowds, so pack a blanket, show up early if you want prime lawn seating and check the Lager House or The Banks event pages for lineup updates and any weather-related changes. Parking is available in the Central Riverfront Garage beneath the Lager House and in nearby lots, and organizers encourage walking or transit on especially busy evenings.
