San Jose is pulling a quick wardrobe change kind of day, starting clear and crisp around 59°F at Mineta San José International Airport before cranking up the heat into the mid-80s by midafternoon, especially in inland neighborhoods that soak up the sun fastest.
Afternoon Heat And Winds
By early afternoon, highs are expected to top out near 86°F, then ease back into the low 80s later in the day as cooler onshore air starts to creep inland. Winds should stay relatively light, generally from the northwest at about 0 to 9 mph, but that will be enough to take the edge off for some while still leaving the hottest pockets of the valley a bit toastier than the rest.
According to the National Weather Service, those typical daytime onshore breezes will become more noticeable during the afternoon and evening hours.
Fire Weather Concerns
The warm, dry conditions are also raising elevated fire-weather concerns across the interior of the Bay Area, so officials are asking residents to skip outdoor burning and to steer clear of activities that could spark a blaze. The Santa Clara County Fire Department is keeping a close eye on conditions and urges people to secure vehicles and yard equipment, avoid mowing dry grass, and make sure cigarettes are completely out before tossing them.

Overnight And Weekend Outlook
Tonight brings mostly clear skies and an overnight low near 54°F. A slow cooling trend begins Friday, knocking daytime highs down to more typical late May levels through the weekend, with temperatures in the low 80s on Saturday and upper 70s on Sunday.
Memorial Day next Monday is expected to be milder, with a high near 75°F and some patchy fog possible before about 7 AM. A weak front early next week carries only a small chance of light showers, so outdoor plans will mostly be safe to keep, especially during the sunnier, drier stretches.
