
An early-morning encounter on the 900 block of Florida Avenue NW turned violent Thursday when three people on scooters surrounded a man, stabbed him in the neck and robbed him of cash and a Rolex, police said. The assault happened at about 4:36 a.m., and emergency crews took the victim to a nearby hospital with a neck wound. Authorities said the suspects took off on scooters after grabbing his money and watch.
What police say
According to FOX 5 DC, which cited the Metropolitan Police Department, one of the suspects threatened the victim, saying, "I’ll kill you, give me all your stuff," before the situation escalated. Officers told the station the victim was knocked to the ground and stabbed in the neck. Investigators said one suspect went through his pockets and took $400 in cash while another grabbed the man's Rolex, leaving his wallet behind. Police said three people on scooters were involved and that they fled south on 9th Street NW after the attack.
