A 31-year-old man who was shot while driving away from the 22000 block of Stone Oak Parkway early Sunday still managed to get behind the wheel and take himself to a nearby hospital, according to San Antonio police. He told officers he heard a "loud noise" as he pulled out, felt a "burning sensation" in his torso, then realized he had been hit. Officers found him at the hospital around 12:11 a.m., and he was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. The suspected gunman remains at large.
According to Fox San Antonio, police were called to the hospital at about 12:11 a.m. Sunday after the man reported that someone fired at his vehicle as he was leaving the 22000 block of Stone Oak Parkway. The outlet reports he was treated there for his wounds, which police again described as non-life-threatening. Fox San Antonio also notes that no suspect description has been released and that investigators have been searching the area for clues.
Stone Oak's recent violence
The Stone Oak area has seen its share of tense moments in recent years, including a high-profile January 2025 shooting that wounded multiple officers. As KSAT reported, San Antonio police later released body-camera footage from that officer-involved shooting on Stone Oak Parkway, a case that helped explain why neighbors often notice a heavier police presence after violent calls. That history does not mean the two incidents are connected, but it does underscore ongoing public-safety concerns in the corridor.
