Gunfire shattered the quiet early Saturday near North Zarzamora Street and Rivas Street after two people refused to give up their jewelry during an attempted robbery, according to police. The victims, a 30-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, were leaving a location around 1 a.m. when an unknown number of suspects confronted them. One suspect opened fire during the struggle, but neither victim was hit, and the attackers took off before officers arrived.

According to WOAI, the San Antonio Police Department said the group tried to rip away jewelry the man was wearing when one suspect pulled a gun. Officers told the station the shooter fired multiple rounds at the pair as they struggled to hang on to the items. Investigators say the suspects bolted from the scene and the case is still under investigation.
