Marriott's AC Hotel brand is officially heading for CityCentre Houston, with developers lining up a 153-room property in the heart of the mixed-use district. A ceremonial groundbreaking is on the books as financing and permits come together, setting the stage for the brand’s second Houston location aimed at both business travelers and event-goers in west Houston.
Project details and timeline
As reported by the Houston Business Journal, the AC Hotel by Marriott CityCentre Houston is planned as a 153-key property that is gearing up to break ground soon. The hotel is slated to plug directly into CityCentre’s retail and office spine and is being designed to complement the surrounding restaurants and shops rather than compete with them.
Financing and who's behind it
Construction financing has closed, according to lender Arriba Capital, which noted in a LinkedIn post that capital is already in place for early site work. That same post identifies PA Hospitality as the deal sponsor, indicating that a local operator is expected to take the reins once the hotel opens.
How it fits in CityCentre
The AC Hotel will sit alongside The Moran CITYCENTRE, the district’s existing full-service hotel, which recently changed hands to MetroNational, according to the Houston Chronicle. CityCentre, developed by Midway and known for its blend of offices, shopping, and dining, has already established itself as a hospitality magnet for west Houston, and the new AC flag is set to deepen that role.
Market context
Arriba's announcement points out that the AC Hotel is taking one of CityCentre’s final developable parcels, a prime spot at a time when industry coverage notes new openings and booking gains ahead of major 2026 events. That climate helps explain why lenders and sponsors are pushing the timing now. Trade reporting highlights a run of recent openings and stronger bookings in Houston leading into this summer’s events, which developers cite as they move projects forward, according to Skift's Daily Lodging Report.
