A slow-speed pursuit through Miami Gardens on Wednesday ended with a boxed-in Cadillac, a short sprint on foot and one man in handcuffs along the railroad tracks, deputies said.
Investigators said the chase wrapped when deputies used a PIT maneuver to spin out a stolen black Cadillac on NW 152nd Street. The driver bailed out and tried to run near nearby railroad tracks before being caught. Authorities later identified him as 26-year-old Klaus Anthony Moise.
What deputies say
According to CBS News Miami, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit started after deputies spotted a black Cadillac that had been reported stolen near NW 22nd Avenue and NW 151st Street. Deputies followed the car at low speeds until it slowed enough for units to move in and try to end the chase.
How the takedown unfolded
As reported by CBS News Miami, a robbery-intervention detail tailed the SUV in three unmarked vehicles before one deputy executed a Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT, along NW 152nd Street. The Cadillac spun out and stopped, and the driver jumped out and ran east across Railroad Drive into a nearby yard by Opa-locka. Deputies quickly surrounded him, detained him on the ground and placed him in handcuffs. Florida Highway Patrol troopers later searched Moise and took him into custody, the outlet reported.
Broader policing context
The arrest comes as Miami-Dade authorities press a wider crackdown on vehicle thefts and dangerous street takeovers that officials say put bystanders at risk and can block ambulances and fire trucks, according to the Miami Herald. Local agencies have increasingly turned to coordinated, lower-speed takedowns and multi-agency responses in an effort to limit the hazards that come with high-speed chases. Investigators also continue to lean on the public, asking residents to share video and tips to help piece together what happened after pursuits end.
Investigation and next steps
Detectives are asking anyone with information or footage of Wednesday’s incident to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, Local 10 reported. Authorities have not yet released a full list of potential charges, and further details are expected as the sheriff’s office continues its investigation.
