A driver was killed and a passenger was badly hurt yesterday when a solo vehicle crashed into a tree along U.S. Highway 101 north of Todd Road in Sonoma County. The collision happened just before 4:20 PM, and emergency crews remained on scene for several hours. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was rushed to a hospital with major injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle carried two people at the time of the wreck, with the driver dying at the scene and the passenger transported with serious injuries, as reported by NBC Bay Area. The Todd Road area is no stranger to traffic trouble. Earlier this year, a solo semi-truck crash shut down lanes north of Todd Road and triggered significant delays, according to Patch.
