A Wednesday evening argument in the Soundview section of the Bronx spiraled into violence, leaving a man stabbed in the torso and slashed across the face and turning a residential block into a taped-off crime scene, authorities said. Emergency crews treated the victim on the sidewalk before rushing him to a nearby hospital, and police said he is expected to recover. Officers remained on the block as detectives fanned out to look for witnesses and evidence, while rattled neighbors watched from behind the tape.
Police Response and Hospital Update
According to News12 New York, officers arrived just after 6 p.m. and said the stabbing followed some kind of argument. EMS transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where police said he is expected to recover after treatment. Video posted to the Citizen app showed crime-scene tape stretched across the block and officers working the scene.
Scene Footage and Neighborhood Context
Soundview has seen other violence this year, including a February shooting on Evergreen Avenue. That earlier incident, in which a teen was shot, was covered by Hoodline in its report on a teen shot on Evergreen Avenue. Residents and community groups have continued to push for more violence-prevention resources as investigators look at patterns of street violence in the area.
How to Help Investigators
Police are asking anyone with information about the attack to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit tips online, per the NYPD. Investigators also want anyone who may have video or other evidence from the scene to come forward to help move the case along.
